Santos Brasil discusses competitive advantages of the Port of Imbituba at FIESC

This Thursday (27), Santos Brasil Commercial Director Marcos Tourinho will take part in the FIESC Chamber for Transport and Logistics Affairs meeting that will discuss the Port of Imbituba as a competitive alternative for cargo transportation. Santos Brasil, the operator of the Tecon Imbituba and a reference in South America, has already invested R$ 520 million in expansion, renovation and equipment acquisition in its terminal in Santa Catarina.

"Imbituba stands out in the port scene because it offers important advantages such as location, capacity and availability for handling containers and oversize and overweight loads, as well as for docking large ships, with no limitations for maneuvers", says Tourinho. The results of Santos Brasil´s coastal shipping operations at Tecon Imbituba, which grew 12.4% in Q4 2016, reflect this scenario.

The terminal was acquired in 2008. It has the capacity for handling 450 thousand TEU (a unit equivalent to a 20-foot container), a total area of 207 thousand square meters, and 660 meters of dockable berth. In addition to Tecon Imbituba, Santos Brasil operates the General Cargo Terminal (TCG) in the same port, which is establishing itself in the South of the country as an important concentrator of irregular, large, and oversize and overweight cargo.
